Fly parasites, of the Pteromalidae family are indigenous to North America. They
are a species-specific parasitoid, laying their eggs exclusing in fly pupa. BioSwat's
efficacious blend includes Spalangia cameroni, Muscidifurax zaraptor, and
Muscidifurax raptorellus.
These gnat-sized insects live their entire life cycle on or near the surface of manure
and other decaying organic matter attacking flies in their pupal stage long before
they become adult pest flies that negatively impact livestock performance.
When released on or near fly breeding sites, the female searches through the habitat seeking out fly pupa. Once located, she drums a hole in the pupal case and deposits eggs insides the fly pupa leading to destruction of the immobilized fly.
